Business is offered at GCSE level at St Edmund Arrowsmith starting in Year 9. This qualification equips pupils with the skills and confidence to explore how different business situations affect business decisions. It is a well-rounded introduction to the subject. GCSE Business will encourage pupils to make informed choices about a wide range of further learning opportunities and career pathways as well as develop life skills that enable them to become financially and commercially aware.
Key Stage Four
Pupils who have chosen to take Business at GCSE follow the OCR Business (9-1) Specification. They will develop as enterprising individuals with the ability to think commercially and creatively to demonstrate business acumen, and draw on evidence to make informed business decisions and solve business problems. Pupils will develop as effective and independent learners, and as critical and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds. They will be given the opportunity to investigate and analyse real business opportunities and issues to construct well-argued, well-evidenced, balanced and structured arguments, demonstrating their depth and breadth of understanding of business.
Pupils in Years 9, 10 and 11 have 5 Business lessons a fortnight and homework is set on a regular basis, in line with the school’s homework policy.
